Steel fire proofing -
About these products
Steel framed building structures require passive fire proofing materials to ensure in a fire scenario that the building will not loose its structural stability or collapse. The materials provide thermal insulation to the underlying steel ensuring it does not reach temperature where it load-bearing capabilities are effected.
Fireproofing materials are required by the Building Code of Australia to comply with the design requirements for fire in AS4100 (The Steel Structures Code) which requires a range of fire testing to AS1530 Part 4.
In Australia, there are predominately three (3) distinct fireproofing material types, namely conventional spray applied materials, board materials & thin film intumescent coatings / paints.
