Fire rated access panels and hatches are installed in fire rated barriers to provide access to services and other items.
They are typically fire tested to AS1530/4 - 1997 to have the same Fire Resistance Level (FRL) as the wall, ceiling, shaft or duct barrier system. The can be screw fixed or hinged. Ceiling hatches usually are required to have an incipient insulation rating to match the rating of the fire rated ceiling membrane they penetrate.
