Control joints are provided within fire rated barriers to allow for movement but also maintain the  Fire Resistance Level (FRL) of the fire barrier in question.  Fire testing requirements and acceptable variations are found in AS1530/4 and AS4072/1.  In addition to the  FRL, users should consider other relevant product attributes when sealing control joints such acoustic performance, movement capabilities and weather resistance.

The following Alliance member companies have nominated Sealant / Mastic / Caulk    product as possibly suitable use in this category.  These systems are typically used for joints smaller than 50mm.

Proprietary large width / high movement systems are designed to cater for joints in excess of 50mm in width and/or for high movement type joints.
