Cavity barriers are typically installed in ceiling voids to limit the spread of fire and its effects should a fire happen to break into a fire rated ceiling space. The Building Code of Australia uses incipient rating ceiling which do not require cavity barriers, unlike UK and other international Building Codes and Regulations.
