Training, accreditation and licensing

One
of the Alliance’s
shared goals deals specifically with
assisting Government Regulators with the development and implementation of
appropriate licensing systems for those companies and/or individuals who
are involved with the design, installation, certification and maintenance
of fire and smoke containment systems.
To
deliver training in this area, Accredifire has been formed - visit www.accredifire.com.au

The
Alliance has quickly become the peak body encompassing the overall
"passive" fire and smoke containment industry, encompassing designers,
installers, certifiers and maintainers who deal with the fire resistance
of structures, fire and smoke resistive barriers, openings in these
barriers (such as fire and smoke doors, fire shutters, fire rated
glazing), fire rated ducts and dampers, low fire hazard wall, ceiling,
floor and roof covering materials, and smoke control products such as
smoke and heat vents, smoke exhaust fans and products to protect against
vertical smoke migration.
This
Group collectively, including
Associate Members (which encompasses
other key industry associations) is in a position to work closely with the
respective State and Territory Government Regulators to assist with the
development, implementation and administration of the relevant
accreditation vehicles to underpin licensing.
As
the Alliance, we see it as imperative that we all work together to ensure
a cohesive approach to development of the accreditation tools and we
invite those interested in participating or discussing our progress to
make contact with us and to join our ranks.
To
underpin accreditation, the Alliance
was heavily involved in the promulgation of some National
Competencies relating to "passive" fire and smoke containment
products, which have been included as part of an ANTA approved Training
Package which allows for training and/or assessment of competent
practitioners in the fire and smoke containment area.
